Deliverance

Psalm 7

Psalm 7:1 “O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:”

In Psalm 7, David is in one of the most troubling times of his life. He is fleeing for his life from Saul who was trying to kill him. What is interesting about it is according to the title, it is a prayer that David sang to the Lord. In verse 1 we find something that is very interesting.  “O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me.” The word deliver is a fascinating word. It literally means to snatch away, to rescue. It pictures someone grabbing a hold of us and yanking us back from danger.

One summer, my family and I traveled back to my home in Indiana for family vacation. One day we visited the Exotic Feline Rescue Center. This place is located along a county road and there is no place on the lot to park. We have to park on the shoulder of the road just outside of the center. When we got out of the car, our 3 year old daughter darted out into the road in front of oncoming car. I immediately reached out and snatched her and yanked her into me for safety. She did not like this at all but it was for her own safety.

Many times the enemy, Satan, has something coming down the road that is ready to run us over and destroy us. We often not paying attention dart out into his path and our loving Heavenly Father has to reach out and snatch us and drag us into Himself for safety.  It may not be pleasant to us but it is for our own good and safety. Thank the Lord for a loving Father that is willing to deliver his children from danger.
